Raised in Bethesda, Maryland, then attended the Tisch School of Arts at New York University. He majored in film direction. King co-founded the protal Theatre company, an Off-Off Broadway repertory company, and has been a strong presence in New York Theatre for several years.

His character on "Charmed" (1998), Andy Trudeau, was killed of in the first season finale.

Received his undergraduate degree (in business) from UC Santa Barbara.
